At its E3 EA Play press conference on Sunday EA revealed details on its new esports initiative, a tournament circuit featuring AAA titles FIFA, Madden, and Battlefield.
Peter Moore, EA’s Chief Competition Officer, announced the Madden 17 Championship Series, which will span four “EA Majors” and feature a $1 million prize pool.
EA also has plans for three types of competitive events, including player hosted Challenger Events, large-scale Premier Events hosted by EA, and Major Events featuring top players competing on an international level.
EA took its first big step into esports last December by creating a new competitive gaming division led by Moore.
The publisher expects to announce more events featuring more games in the future.
