Duke baseball a No. 2 seed in 2023 NCAA Tournament, will play in Conway

Duke baseball is a No. 2 seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

The Blue Devils (35-21) will open against No. 3 UNC Wilmington (34-21) in the Conway (S.C.) Regional on Friday. No. 1 Coastal Carolina (39-19) and No. 4 Rider (35-19) are on the opposite side of the bracket.

The Conway Regional is paired with the Charlottesville Regional, which includes Virginia, East Carolina, Army and Oklahoma. The winners of the two regionals will matchup in the super regional round.

Duke is in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time since 2016 under head coach Chris Pollard. Prior to 2016, the Blue Devils hadn’t made the tournament since 1961.

Sophomore infielder Alex Mooney, along with left-handed pitcher James Tallon and infielder Andrew Fischer – a pair of freshmen – have led Duke as All-ACC selections.

The Blue Devils advanced to the super regional round in 2018 and 2019.

Regionals will take place Friday through Monday. Super regionals are set for June 9-11 or June 10-12. The College World Series at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, starts June 16.
