Duck fans react to No. 1 WR Evan Stewart’s commitment to Oregon

When it rains victories, it often pours as well.

So while the week started on a high note for fans of the Oregon Ducks when their bitter rival Washington Huskies lost in the national championship game, it ended on a high note as well. On Thursday, not only did head coach Dan Lanning once again pledge his allegiance to the program by shutting down rumors about him leaving for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but the Ducks also picked up a commitment from Evan Stewart, the No. 1 wide receiver in the transfer portal.

The former Texas A&M WR was a 5-star prospect coming out of high school, rated as the No. 1 pass-catcher in the class of 2022, and the No. 6 overall player. He racked up 91 catches for 1,163 yards and 6 touchdowns. He has two years of eligibility remaining if he wants to use them, but there is a belief that he will likely try to head to the NFL after one more season.

With the addition of Stewart, it’s clear that the Ducks have one of the best receiver rooms in the nation going into the 2024 season. After a day of celebration from the Lanning news, Oregon fans kept it going on Thursday night with the announcement of Stewart’s commitment:
