Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals | Sunday Updates

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Sunday the next generation of golf took center stage at Augusta National Golf Club with the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals.

Participants in each age group competed in all three disciplines, hitting three shots per skill for a total of nine shots. Points were accumulated per shot at each discipline. The overall champion in each division was determined by the participant with the most points accumulated between all three.

Kipp Madison of Evans, one of the 80 golfers competing on Sunday, won the boys 12-13 age division.

Madison, who plays regularly at Westlake Country Club, is the second member of his family to compete at Augusta National. His brother Zane made it to the finals two years ago as an 8-year-old.

“To be only 15 minutes away and make is just crazy but then to come here and win it is just another step of excitement,” Madison said. “I mean when I saw that I actually won here, I was like, ‘oh my gosh, this can’t be real. I’m in a dream’ so I was just so excited. To win at Augusta is just a dream come true.”
