Draymond, Wiseman miss Warriors' first training camp practice originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The Warriors were not at full strength Monday for their first team practice of training camp.

Draymond Green and James Wiseman did not participate, coach Steve Kerr told the media Monday afternoon.

The Warriors' first preseason game is this Saturday at Chase Center against the Denver Nuggets.

"I'm not worried about Draymond," Kerr said. "He's got a better feel for what we do than anybody. So he'll be fine once he gets rolling with practice."

But what about Wiseman, the player the Warriors last month selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft?

"It's unfortunate, but it's just the way it goes," Kerr said. "Our coaching staff has been showing him tape the last few days. He's still getting some homework in between now and the time he'll be able to play again.

"It's not ideal, but nothing is ideal for anybody in 2020."

Kerr last week tempered expectations for Wiseman, and let it be known he doesn't know who will start at center when the Warriors open the regular season at the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 22.

"I'm excited for James, but also want to preach caution for everybody not to expect too much too soon because we're just throwing him right into the fire," he told reporters. "He played three college games. He's got a lot of things to learn."

Given what we found out today, it's very understandable why Kerr made those comments.
