Draymond doubtful for Warriors' opener with foot injury originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The Warriors likely won't be whole when they open the season Tuesday night against the Brooklyn Nets as coach Steve Kerr announced that Draymond Green is doubtful due to a mild muscle strain in his right foot.

Kerr said Green tweaked his foot during a scrimmage early in the week and the power forward did not scrimmage Saturday. Green underwent an MRI that came back clean and is not expected to miss a lot of time. Kerr noted that even if Green misses the opener vs. the Nets, he will travel with Golden State and is expected to play at some point on the season-opening four-game road trip.

Kerr noted that Green is in good spirits and should return "quickly."

"I know Draymond is disappointed to not practice today," Kerr told reporters. "And maybe not play Tuesday night. But he's also well aware that it's a long season, 72 games. He's going to get right, he's going to be healthy and ready to roll when he is, and at that point, there's a ton of basketball left. We're being smart and Draymond understands the need to be so."

With Green not practicing Saturday, Kerr said Eric Paschall ran with the first team as did rookie center James Wiseman.

Green and Wiseman both were unable to practice during the first week of training camp.

While Green missed Saturday's practice with the foot ailment, Kerr said Wiseman was a full-go and is trending toward playing Tuesday against the Nets.

With Green out, the Warriors will be thin at power forward. Kerr noted that Kelly Oubre and Andrew Wiggins would be the backup options at the four and Damion Lee also is an option if the Warriors elect to go small.
