Drake Maye among top NIL earners in college football

UNC football quarterback Drake Maye will enter this 2023 college football season as one of the best players in the game. After an impressive 2022 season, Maye’s stock has climbed since then and he’s battling Caleb Williams for being the top pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

As Maye goes into this season as the leader of UNC’s offense, he’s growing into a household name.

And while doing so, he’s making some money off of NIL. Per On3’s NIL evaluations, Maye is fifth on the list among college football players at $1.5M.

He trails just Shedeur Sanders ($1.5M), Travis Hunter ($1.7M), Caleb Williams ($2.6M) and Arch Manning ($3.7M).

Maye put up a big season last year, throwing for 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also rushed for 698 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The Tar Heels got off to a fast start last year but faltered at the end including losing the bowl game to Oregon late. But going into this season, the Tar Heels have some new faces as receivers Josh Downs and Antoine Green are gone, as is coordinator Phil Longo.

UNC will replace them with new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and transfer receivers Nate McCollum and Devontez Walker
