Dr. Pimple Popper Just Launched a Line of Sheet Masks With Dermovia

Truth bomb: I love Dr. Pimple Popper. I genuinely enjoy the countless clips of deep-rooted blackheads being popped, giant, pus-spewing cysts, and surgery-level lipoma extractions she shares with fellow Popaholics like myself. The gore! The struggle! The satisfaction! There's just something about those stomach-churning videos that reel me in — and keep me hooked. (Especially late at night when the insomnia strikes.) And obviously, with more than 2.5 million followers on Instagram and over 2.8 million YouTube subscribers, I'm not the only one who feels that way.

So when the Internet sensation, who fights acne during the day as Sandra Lee, a cosmetic surgeon and dermatologist based in Southern California, stamps her name on something, like the new Dermovia Lace Your Face x Dr. Pimple Popper 4-Week Clear Complexion Kit, it has to be good — right? I took it upon myself to investigate.

The Dermovia Lace Your Face x Dr. Pimple Popper 4-Week Clear Complexion Kit, which is a limited-edition, four-mask collection, isn't the dermatologist's first foray into skin care. In fact, it's her second. In early 2016, Lee launched a Dr. Pimple Popper-approved, salicylic acid-based spot treatment, and mostly recently followed it up with a full line of skin care, called the SLMD Skincare collection. And now, with the help of Dermovia, she's tackling sheet masks. Lace sheet masks.

The collection includes four sheet masks made with a gauze-like lace as a base and infused with super-hydrating serum. Why four? The idea is that one mask is to be used every week (and can even be re-used!) in the following order: Exfoliating Papaya, which is a resurfacing mask made with fruit enzymes to slough off dead skin cells and smooth the skin. For week two, there's the Clarifying Mulberry Leaf Mask, made for skin that tends to get slick come lunchtime. This treatment targets T-zone sheen and deeply clogged pores to stop acne in its tracks.

Then there's the Healing Yogurt Milk Mask for acneic skin with a serious prone to redness. (Like mine.) The yogurt calms inflammation while adding moisture back into the skin. And finally, for week four, the treatment program wraps up with the Brightening Bearberry Mask, an antioxidant-packed mask made to reduce the appearance of sun spots and related sun damage. (Not included in the set, but should be noted, is the Lace a Peel x Dr. Pimple Popper Black Bamboo Charcoal Peel-Off Mask, which is a two-piece mask formulated with charcoal to suck dirt, oil, and gunk out of pores to prevent breakouts before they even start.)

Although I'm a stickler for rules, I tried the Clarifying Mulberry Leaf mask (out of order!), which works best on oily skin types like myself. Before I get into my review, though, let me just say that these masks aren't like other lace-based masks on the market, meaning, they're not dry. The Clarifying Mulberry Leaf mask came wet — more like soaked — and cold. (But maybe that was because the A.C. in my apartment was cranked. We'll never know.) But I slowly (because, again, cold) placed the mask onto my face, hooking the ear holes around my lobes Jason Voorhees-style, and then let it sit — for 15 minutes. Surprisingly, it didn't budge — not even after jumping out of my seat during Game of Thrones.

When it was time to take it off, my boyfriend looked over and said, "Wow, your face is...wet. Like you just got out of a shower." And he's right — it was indeed wet. I smoothed the excess serum into my skin and checked my reflection. Almost immediately, I noticed a brighter complexion — with much less redness, yay! And because the mask is reusable, instead of tossing it in the trash, I stashed this one in its pack and threw it in the fridge for next week's GoT — I'm going to need it.
