With Texas’ softball season swinging into action Friday, let’s take a look at the 2024 Longhorns as well as the highlights of their final season in the Big 12. Texas will join the SEC July 1.

44, Katie Cimusz, jr., C/1B: Versatile power hitter also led team with team-high 24 base-on-balls.

55, Mac Morgan, jr., P: Gritty second-team all-conference righty led team in wins, appearances and innings pitched.

Key dates for 2024 season: Horns enter final Big 12 campaign

Feb. 9: Texas opens season on the road in Los Angeles for a double-header against San Diego and No. 8 UCLA, a game broadcast by ESPN.

Feb. 16: The Longhorns will face a gantlet of four ranked teams in five games at the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitation, starting with a contest against No. 2 Tennessee in a rematch of last year’s Super Regional series.

Feb. 21: Texas hosts Houston Christian in its home opener at McCombs Field.

March 1-4: The Longhorns welcome Northwestern State, Tarleton State, Hofstra and Penn State in the annual Longhorn Invitational.

March 8: Texas starts its final Big 12 campaign at Houston.

March 28-30: The Longhorns make their perhaps their toughest conference road trip to No. 9 Oklahoma State.

April 5-7: Three-time defending national champion Oklahoma visits Austin for 3-game series.

May 3-5: Texas caps its final Big 12 regular season with a 3-game series at Teas Tech.

May 8: The postseason begins at the Big 12 tournament in Oklahoma City.
