Los Angeles (AFP) - The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Max Muncy on the injured list Friday with a broken right wrist, but the infielder hopes his absence will be relatively short.

An MRI revealed the small fracture that didn't show up on earlier exams after Muncy was hit on the wrist by a pitch from San Diego Padres hurler Matt Strahm on Wednesday.

"It wasn't good news, it wasn't bad news," Muncy said in Phoenix, where the Dodgers took on the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.

"Yes, there is something in there, but we're not looking at a super-long timetable. We're hoping that it's maybe just a week or two.

"At this point, it's kind of just how the wrist responds to some treatment and once the inflammation and stuff gets out of there, then we can go from there," Muncy said.
