The Los Angeles Dodgers designated outfielder Trayce Thompson for assignment Tuesday.

Thompson, 27, learned the club's decision after failing to make the 25-man roster out of spring training. He belted 13 home runs with 32 RBIs in 80 games in 2016, but his production sagged last season as he hit .122 (6 of 49) with one home run and two RBIs in 27 games.

Los Angeles has seven days to trade or release Thompson, who is the brother of Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson. If he clears waivers, he could be assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The Dodgers also claimed right-hander Cory Mazzoni off waivers from the Chicago Cubs and assigned him to Triple-A. Mazzoni, 28, has a 17.28 ERA in 14 big-league appearances with the San Diego Padres.
