Doc Rivers reacts to Joel Embiid being fined, but Nick Nurse hasn’t

PHILADELPHIA–When anybody makes a critical comment toward officiating in the NBA, a fine is normally followed for that specific person. It just about happens in every single scenario.

So when Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid was fined $15K for making comments toward the officiating after their Game 4 loss, it wasn’t too surprising.

However, when considering that Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse has made some critical comments towards the officials multiple times in this series and he hasn’t been fined yet, then there’s a problem.

“I have no thoughts, I’m not gonna get into that,” said coach Doc Rivers. “Clearly, that doesn’t sound right to you, does it? Or to anyone else without me saying a word.”

Rivers has a very good point in this situation. Embiid deserved his fine, it is what it is, but when Nurse doesn’t get fined for making the same comments towards the officials, then there is a bit of a problem in the system.

The Sixers will look to shake off the pesky Raptors and close them out on Monday in Game 5 back at home.
