Doc Rivers not sure if Ben Simmons will play a game for the Sixers

The Philadelphia 76ers are sitting at 15-15 on the 2021-22 season to begin a new campaign and it has been very up and down on the season. The Sixers have faced a lot of adversity and they have had a certain ongoing saga hang over them throughout the season.

The question of whether Ben Simmons will play or not play for the Sixers as he awaits a trade continues to be the big topic when it comes to this team. Philadelphia has maintained that they would either like to have a top 25 player in return for Simmons in a trade or they have him return to the team and play.

However, it appears that Simmons does not have any plans on playing for the organization while he works on getting himself mentally ready to play again sooner rather than later. It is obvious that the Sixers are missing his elite defense along with his elite playmaking which makes a big difference for Philadelphia on both ends of the floor.

With that said, the Sixers are just doing whatever they can in order to be a successful team without Simmons.

“We don’t know what we are yet,” said coach Doc Rivers. “Ben hasn’t played in a game. You can see the glaring holes that he leaves us and he may or may not play. If he does great, if he doesn’t, then whatever we get can help us, but we don’t know what any of those factors are. So right now, we’re just playing games. Trying to win.”

Philadelphia has 52 games left in the season so they have plenty of time to right the ship. It also gives them time to figure out what to do with this Simmons situation.
