Didn't score tickets to Super Bowl 57? Here are some Phoenix-area events to try

Didn't score tickets to the Super Bowl in Glendale this year? With ticket packages starting at $4,887.50, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives in the Phoenix area during the week leading up to the Super Bowl. And if you live in the southwest Valley, you won't have to go far.

Partner city Goodyear, Cardinals celebrate grant

As an official Super Bowl LVII Host Committee partner, Goodyear will have no shortage of Super Bowl events.

The city's festivities will begin on Saturday, Jan. 28. Goodyear is the recipient of an NFL Greening Grant, which aims to promote sustainability in the region.

The project — which will focus on low water consumption — will begin at Loma Linda Park at 9 a.m., starting with a kickoff ceremony with the Arizona Cardinals cheerleaders and former Cardinals player Anthony Clement. Mayor Joe Pizzillo, as well as representatives from NFL Green, Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, the Arizona Cardinals and Verizon will speak at the event.

Game On block party in the mix

The city's Game On block party will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Goodyear Civic Square, which is the spot of the city's future downtown area.

There will be plenty of activities for kids, complete with football-themed inflatables and a photo booth. There will also be a beer garden, food trucks, lawn games and outdoor screens playing football.

The halftime show will include marching bands and cheer squads.

City teams up with local restaurants

The city also partnered with several restaurants, including Arriba Mexican Grill, Roman's Oasis and Saddle Mountain Brewing Company, for a contest.

Each one of the participating restaurants has a life-size football player cutout. In order to enter the contest, people can visit one of the participating restaurants before Feb. 12 and upload a photo with the football player to Facebook with the hashtag #GameOnGoodyear and follow the city's Facebook page @cityofgoodyear.

Each photo will be entered to win one of two prize packages worth $500, which include gift cards to the participating restaurants. Visit the city's website for more information on the competition.

Kickoff concert planned in Avondale

Red Bottomz, a bar in Avondale, will host a Super Bowl kickoff show featuring several musicians on Friday, Feb. 10, beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets will be $30 for presale and $40 at the door.
