The Devils placed goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood on Injured Reserve with an MCL sprain, the team announced Saturday morning.
The move, which is retroactive to Thursday, Nov. 3, will likely see Blackwood sidelined for three-to-six weeks, coach Lindy Ruff said earlier this week.
Blackwood has allowed 17 goals (2.79 GAA) with a .880 save percentage in seven games this season. The 26-year-old netminder is 4-2 on the year.
The knee injury most likely occurred during the Devils' 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 3, a contest which Blackwood left in the second period.
The Devils announced they have recalled goaltender Nico Daws from the AHL’s Utica Comets in a corresponding roster move.
The 21-year-old goaltender was selected by New Jersey with the 84th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Daws made 25 appearances last season after making his debut in Oct. 2021. He went 10-11-1 allowing 66 goals for a 3.11 GAA and had a .893 save percentage.
