The Devils placed forward Ondrej Palat on Injured Reserve on Friday night due to a lower-body injury.

The move, which is retroactive to this past Monday, sidelines Palat for at least seven days, but the severity of his injury is still yet to be fully determined. Palat will meet with doctors this coming Monday, after which the next steps will be determined.

The 31-year-old Palat signed a five-year, $30 million deal with the Devils this offseason after winning a pair of Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In five games with the Devils, Palat has totaled three goals, including a game-winner against the Islanders on Oct. 20, when he lit the lamp twice in a 4-1 New Jersey win.

To fill Palat’s spot on the roster, the Devils recalled forward Andreas Johnnson from the Utica Comets.
