After taking a puck to the face on Sunday, the Devils announced that Dougie Hamilton broke his jaw and will have surgery.

Hamilton will go in injured reserve retroactive to that day, forcing him to miss at least the Devils' next three games.

Captain Nico Hischier will be out for Tuesday's game in Boston against the Bruins with a lower-body injury. He scored the game-winning overtime goal on Sunday against the Capitals in Washington.

Rumors are circulating that it's a broken foot, but the Devils have not announced further extent of the injury.

The Devils also announced that Yegor Sharangovich and Pavel Zacha have entered COVID-19 protocols, while Jonathan Bernier underwent hip surgery earlier this week that ended his season.

The Devils have won three in a row - their last two in overtime - but sit in a tie for sixth place in the Metropolitan Division with 31 points.
