The Devils provided an injury update on Jack Hughes on Friday, roughly a week after he was placed on IR after suffering a dislocated shoulder during the second game of the season.

Per the Devils, after Hughes met with the Devils' orthopedic surgeon and chief medical officer, it was determined that his dislocation is stable and that he is "on course with his rehabilitation program."

Hughes' status on returning to action will be reevaluated in five weeks.

The 2019 first overall pick suffered the injury against the Seattle Kraken when he was dragged down by Jeremy Lauzon and fell to the ice.

Hughes scored twice, including the overtime winner, in New Jersey's season opener against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Hughes scored 11 goals and dished out 20 assists in 56 games last season during what was his second year in the league.
