Developers have resurrected plans for a mixed-use development in southeast Memphis first approved in 1999.

The Polo Grounds North Planned Development would include commercial and residential uses, a hotel and an outdoor recreation and golf entertainment center, according to an application submitted to the Memphis and Shelby County Land Use Control Board.

GBT Realty is seeking a modification to the plans, which have been modified several times since originally submitted, to allow for the golf and recreation center on a 22-acre parcel at the southeast corner of Germantown Road and Callis Cutoff Road.

It would include a full-service restaurant, a bar, event space, outdoor seating and patio area and mini-golf.

"The facility will be visible and accessible for many users, especially for the new residents brought to the area by FedEx and future residential developments," according to the application.

According to the application, the developer is also looking to ban certain uses from the property that are currently permitted, including a crematorium or a smoke shop.

The land use control board is scheduled to discuss the application on April 14.
