Game notes: The last-place Tigers are on an upswing, with two straight wins vs. the Orioles, who are fourth in the AL East. Detroit hadn't won consecutive games since April. Pitching has been key, with Tigers relievers twirling 7⅔ scoreless innings Saturday after Michael Pineda left early with a broken middle finger.

Cedric Mullins leads the Orioles with three hits in nine at-bats so far this series. The 2021 All-Star struggled last month but is hitting .351 halfway through May with three home runs and three doubles in 57 at-bats. Trey Mancini (.288/.344/.373 in 2022) is 2-for-6 with two walks and a home run this series, but no one else in Baltimore's lineup has been a threat. Miguel Cabrera added two more hits Saturday to give him four in the series, and 3,018 for his career. Next on baseball's all-time list is Rafael Palmeiro, at 3,020.

UPDATE: Here's when Tigers' Riley Greene (foot) could play in first rehab game

Skubal looks to continue his strong start to the season, which includes four starts (of six total) with two runs or fewer. He has given up two runs over 13 innings in his last two appearances, with 14 strikeouts, nine hits and three walks.

In two career starts vs. the Orioles, Skubal is 1-1, with one clunker (four runs in 5⅔ innings) and one six-inning, scoreless outing. Mullins and Mancini are each 2-for-5 vs. Skubal. None of the Tigers has seen much of Wells, who hasn't allowed a walk in four starts (17⅓ innings).

Next up for the Tigers is a three-game road set vs. the Tampa Bay Rays then the team's first off day since May 2. The Orioles go back home for four games vs. the New York Yankees.
