ON THE PISTONS: What we've learned so far: Cade Cunningham belongs

Game notes: It's a battle of the No. 1 pick and the No. 2 pick, or if you look at it another way, two of the three worst teams in the NBA. For both, this is their only nationally televised game as they work through rebuilds. ... Cade Cunningham (averaging 10.8 points on 23.2% shooting in four games, with 5.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists with 3.3 turnovers) and the Pistons have enjoyed four days off after falling short of a comeback vs. Brooklyn. Cunningham had 17 points to lead the team in a 96-90 loss.

The Rockets have been hard-luck losers, dropping three of their last four by a single possession. The team's only win, Oct. 22 at home vs. rebuilding Oklahoma City, feels like eons ago. But Pistons castoff Christian Wood is having a solid season, with 17.5 points and 11.8 rebounds a game. Jalen Green, whom the Pistons passed on to take Cunningham, has been entertaining and inconsistent — as rookies tend to be. The 19-year-old is averaging 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, three assists and 2.9 turnovers, shooting 35.3% overall and 28.6% from 3 (20-for-70) in 10 games. He already has a 24-point game and a 30-point performance with 8 3s this season.

Green blasted the city of Detroit after the draft, comparing it to the 'G League bubble.' ... This is the first of three road games in four nights for the Pistons, where they will face the No. 2-4 picks in the draft. Friday they'll face Evan Mobley and Cleveland; Saturday will be Scottie Barnes and Toronto.
