As the Detroit Pistons continue to navigate a COVID-19 outbreak, the team signed former Wisconsin big man Micah Potter to a 10-day contract on Wednesday.

In 11 G League games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce this season, Potter is averaging 14.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 0.9 blocks and knocking down 37.8% of his 3.4 3-point attempts per game. He spent the first two years of his collegiate career with Ohio State before transferring to Wisconsin in 2018. Potter went undrafted in 2021.

At 6 feet 10, Potter gives the Pistons some needed size as they await the return of Isaiah Stewart (health and safety protocols) and Kelly Olynyk (left knee sprain).

The Pistons signed Potter using the NBA's COVID-related hardship exception. They currently have eight players — Cade Cunningham, Killian Hayes, Stewart, Saben Lee, Trey Lyles, Cory Joseph, Josh Jackson and Rodney McGruder — in the NBA's health and safety protocols. To fortify their roster, they've signed seven G League players to 10-day contracts within the last week.

The list of players on 10-day deals includes five Motor City Cruisers — Cheick Diallo, Derrick Walton Jr., Cassius Stanley, Deividas Sirvydis and Trayvon Palmer — as well as Justin Robinson and Potter.
