WHERE ARE THE WHISTLES?: Why you may hear Cade Cunningham yell more often

Game notes: This is the third matchup between the two worst teams in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons have lost four straight but it doesn't seem so bad when you consider Cade Cunningham just dropped 34 points ... and when you look at the Magic's recent play.

Orlando lost its last game Wednesday to the Los Angeles Clippers and has won just twice since Dec. 23. This 2-17 stretch, coupled with the Pistons winning six games so far this month, has put a little space between Orlando and Detroit in the "race" for the league's worst record and best draft lottery odds.

The Pistons won the two previous matchups this season despite big games from Magic players with Michigan ties. Former Michigan star Franz Wagner had a team-high 19 points in the first game and former Michigan State star Gary Harris dropped a game-high 28 in the latter matchup. Orlando and Detroit meet again March 17.

The Pistons play Sunday vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers while the Magic play the Dallas Mavericks that same evening.
