CHICAGO — The Detroit Lions will not have their No. 1 receiver or running back for Darrell Bevell's first game as head coach.

Running back D'Andre Swift, who was downgraded to doubtful on Saturday, is inactive for the Lions' game today against the Chicago Bears.

Swift has not played since a Nov. 15 win over Washington, when he had 149 yards from scrimmage.

The rookie second-round pick reported concussion symptoms the next week and missed two games with a brain injury. He was removed from concussion protocol this week, but has been dealing with a non-COVID-19-related illness that kept him out of practice.

"It’s really been a day-to-day thing," Bevell said Friday. "I wouldn’t say (we've talked about sitting him for the rest of the season). I think it’s just been a focus every day on his health and trying to get him right.”

Without Swift, the Lions have run for 149 yards total the last two weeks in losses to the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans.

Previously, the Lions ruled receiver Kenny Golladay out for a fifth straight game with a hip injury. Golladay led the NFL in touchdown catches last season, but has played just five games because of injuries this season.

Defensive linemen Da'Shawn Hand (groin) and Austin Bryant (thigh), cornerback Jeff Okudah (shoulder) and quarterback David Blough also are inactive for the Lions.

Safety Tracy Walker, who was questionable to play after his wife gave birth to the couple's first child on Friday, is active.

Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks are both active for the Bears (5-6) after they were questionable on Chicago's injury report.
