In what has become a December tradition, the Detroit Lions placed defensive tackle Da'Shawn Hand on injured reserve Saturday.
This is the third straight season that Hand, who missed three games earlier this year with a groin injury, will finish the season on injured reserve.

The Lions activated offensive lineman Halapoulivaati Vaitai (foot) from IR to take Hand's spot on the 53-man roster. Vaitai is expected to start at right tackle in place of Tyrell Crosby (ankle) and as part of a revamped offensive line.
With Frank Ragnow out with a fractured throat, Jonah Jackson could move to center while Joe Dahl and Oday Aboushi start at guard.

The Lions also signed offensive tackle Dan Skipper off the practice squad to the 53-man roster, elevated defensive end Kareem Martin and center Marcus Martin to the gameday roster, and elevated cornerback Alex Myres from practice squad as a COVID replacement for Everson Griffen.
