TV personality Al Roker will be broadcasting live from the Detroit Riverfront as part of the "Today" show on Wednesday and then will head to a couple of the city's Coney dog restaurants to tape a segment for his food-based digital streaming show.

American Coney Island and the Chili Mustard Onions (CMO) restaurant will be featured in a special segment of "Family Style with Al Roker" that will focus on Detroit's Coney dogs, the Detroit News and WDIV-TV (Channel 4) reported.

For the "Today" show, Roker will be broadcasting live beginning at 6:30 a.m. from the Cullen Plaza at the Detroit Riverfront. Guests are welcomed but you have to bring your COVID vaccination card.

"Family Style with Al Roker" is a digital streaming show in which Roker tries different iconic dishes around the country while connecting with family owned businesses that are keeping the food industry booming.

American Coney Island is an iconic downtown restaurant that sells a Coney dog with a natural casing in a steamed bun, their secret chili sauce, topped with mustard and sweet diced onions.

The famed restaurant at the corner of Michigan, Lafayette and Griswold has been featured on shows like "Man v. Food," the "Today" show and more.

Earlier this year, Chuck Keros, the second generation owner of American Coney Island, died at age 88. He was the son of Greek immigrant Gust Keros, who founded the eatery. The restaurant is still owned by the Keros family with Chuck's daughter Grace Keros running it.
