Former Alabama running backs Derrick Henry and Najee Harris had significant impacts on the Crimson Tide during their respective collegiate careers. Both known for their agility, strength and ability to land a solid stiff arm, they didn’t seem to have any trouble assimilating to their new professional environment.

Henry, who won the 2015 Heisman Trophy, was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans.

Harris just recently left for the NFL, as he was a first-round selection for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021. He just completed his rookie season.

Both running backs have been voted as top-10 players at their position by NFL analysts at ESPN.

Henry was voted the best running back in the league, a title he held heading into last season as well.

“I’d still give him one more year at the top,” an NFL coordinator said. “He’s the constant for that offense no matter who’s around him. I still trust him to make it happen above anyone else. You can give him the ball 30 times and he won’t disappoint.”

Though he may not be No. 1 like Henry, Harris being ranked No. 8 on this list just after his rookie season shows that his career could ultimately be just as strong and impactful as Henry’s.

“He had 1,200 yards when everyone knew he was going to run it,” said one NFL defensive coach. “They knew the Steelers weren’t throwing deep and their offensive line was terrible.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Henry, Harris and other former Alabama players now in the NFL.
