KRYSTEN PEEK: I'm Krysten Peek joined by Deni Avdija who is going to Washington Wizards. Deni, I know you're back in Israel. How has this entire draft night been for you?
DENI AVDIJA: It's been amazing. I have the whole family with me, all the people I very love. And they're all with me in this special moment. And I'm just excited and super happy to fulfill my dream and becoming an NBA player.
KRYSTEN PEEK: I know you are the highest-- it's now official. You are the highest picked draft player to represent Israel. How does that honor feel representing Israel in the NBA now that it's official?
DENI AVDIJA: It's a great honor. I mean, we have a great nation. All the Israelis are behind me, and Jewish people are behind me. And it's the biggest support you can get as a player. And I feel like me representing our small country is great. I mean, I have the honor to do it. And I'm going to represent well. And I'm going to work my hardest to make sure everybody's proud and happy.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Now the Washington Wizards, I mean, did you meet with them? Did they come see you work out at all when you were in Atlanta?
DENI AVDIJA: I'm going to keep it on the low. I mean, it's just me. I just joined the team. I'm just super excited to meet everybody and [INAUDIBLE] I'm just going to keep it on the low.
KRYSTEN PEEK: I mean, they need defense. And you're a great perimeter defender with your length and size. What are you most looking forward to next season and in your rookie year?
DENI AVDIJA: Just to help the team as much as I can, to be the best fit for them, to be a great teammate to everybody. Just meet everybody, and be ready, and play the [? heart, ?] play the hardest, and just win as much games as we can. I'm super competitive. I count myself as a winner. And hopefully, we can do great things together.
KRYSTEN PEEK: And I know you've never even attended an NBA game. So your first NBA game you'll be a player. How excited are you to get back on the court?
DENI AVDIJA: Wow. Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy. I mean, basketball is my love. So me getting on the court that just gives me peace. And I cannot wait.
KRYSTEN PEEK: All right. Well, Deni, best of luck this year with the Washington Wizards.
DENI AVDIJA: Thank you. I appreciate it very much.
