DeMar DeRozan fined $25K for chucking ball at referee

The ending of the San Antonio Spurs’ Game 4 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday just got a little worse for DeMar DeRozan.

The NBA announced Sunday that DeRozan had been fined $25,000 for “recklessly throwing the basketball toward a game official” in the fourth quarter of the Spurs’ loss.

DeRozan was also assessed a technical foul and ejected for the incident, putting a small exclamation point in a game in which the Nuggets continuously pulled away from the Spurs in the second half.

The foul occurred with five minutes left in the game with the Spurs down 110-92. DeRozan was whistled for a charge and hurled the ball in the direction of referee Scott Foster out of apparent frustration. DeRozan exited the game with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting with five rebounds and five assists.
