Dell went into Dad Mode when Steph didn't start vs. Hornets originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

When the Warriors scratched Steph Curry from the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Charlotte Hornets, Dell Curry went into Dad Mode.

The elder Curry, broadcasting Saturday's game for Fox Sports Southeast, offered on the air to text his son to find out why he wasn't playing.

Dell Curry and Hornets play-by-play broadcaster Eric Collins soon learned what everyone else did -- that Steph Curry wasn't "feeling well" and wouldn't play at all Saturday.

As a result, Curry missed out on playing in his hometown for the second straight season. Curry didn't play against the Hornets last season after sustaining a broken hand in the fourth game of the 2019-20 campaign.

It already was an unusual visit for the two-time NBA MVP, considering no fans were in attendance amid the coronavirus pandemic. The NBA's COVID-19 protocols also prevented Steph and Dell Curry from sharing a moment together on the court, as media members aren't allowed there or in the locker rooms this season.

None of that could stop Dell Curry from doing what any concerned parent would, and he just happened to be on air when it happened.
