DeAndre Hopkins expected to be patient in waiting for right team, deal

The Arizona Cardinals turned the page on wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, announcing his release before the Memorial Day weekend. However, he has not yet signed with another team.

Why?

It appears he is taking his time and, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, we shouldn’t expect a quick decision.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he waits right up until the start of training camp,” he said on NFL Total Access. “There’s no rush.”

Hopkins is seeking a contract worth at least the $15 million Odell Beckham Jr. received from the Baltimore Ravens, but he also wants to win.

Biding his time means he won’t have toe participate in any minicamps. There could be an injury to open things up on a team, creating more demand.

The bottom line is that it might be another more than a month before he chooses a team even though there is plenty of interest, Rapoport said.

“I expect Hopkins to exhibit patience here moving forward.”
