Bertans has visa issue, one Wizard tests positive for COVID-19 originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

The Washington Wizards began individual workouts on Monday with two absent players, per head coach Scott Brooks.

Davis Bertans is late to show up due to a work visa issue, as he returned home to Latvia to spend the offseason. And one unnamed player has tested positive for Covid-19.

Brooks said the player who tested positive is not in D.C. and is not a returning player. He also suggested they have never been to Washington before, which means it's likely one of their rookies as any NBA veteran would have traveled through on a visiting team.

The Wizards, however, do not have any injuries to report on and that is noteworthy given the fact their two best players, John Wall and Bradley Beal, were rehabbing injuries in the offseason. Wall was coming back from a ruptured Achilles and Beal had a strained right shoulder.

The Wizards under Brooks have had some bad luck with injuries being revealed on the first day of media access before, including Dwight Howard's back injury and a leg injury for Ian Mahinmi. They have two players missing, but they may be able to show up soon, depending on the recovery and testing of the player who has COVID-19.
