David Letterman bring his comedy to Nets' media day: 'Kevin, why do people call you KD'

A reporter at the Brooklyn Nets’ media day on Monday introduced himself as “Dave from Basketball Digest,” and proceeded to ask Kevin Durant a question. Well, even before that, he asked the reporter next to him, “Could I borrow your notebook? I didn’t bring one.”

Dave from Basketball Digest then asked Durant, “Kevin, why do people call you KD?”

Dave from Basketball Digest turned out to be longtime late-night talk show host and interviewer extraordinaire David Letterman.

Durant played along for a bit: “My first name is Kevin with a K. My last name is Durant with a D.”

Letterman had more questions for Durant.

“This year, what percentage do you plan on giving on the court – 90, 95, 100, 110? What are we looking at?" Letterman said.

Durant answered 110.

"I just got off the phone with the Dolan family (owner of the New York Knicks), and they said that they’re talking to the commissioner now. They’re looking at working a contractual deal that will allow you when you’re not playing with for the Nets – days off – you’ll be able to play for the Knicks. Comments?" Letterman said.

Durant had enough of Letterman's comedic bit at that point.

“Alright Dave, that was the last one,” Durant said.

Letterman managed to sneak in another question: “What about the Pelicans? When you guys play the Pelicans does it kind of make you giggle?”

Durant indeed giggled.

“Alright, that’s all I got,” Letterman said. That’s it everybody. Thank you. Good night.”

“They’ll let anybody in here,” Durant sad.

“Hey, I heard that,” Letterman said as he left the interview room.
