California's generally warm weather often is one of the central reasons why people elect to move to the Golden State

One of those people, it appears, is Warriors guard D'Angelo Russell.

The All-Star reportedly was interested in teaming up with good friend and Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns before ultimately agreeing to a sign-and-trade with the Warriors.

"I thought the opportunity here was amazing … " Russell said Friday to reporters after shootaround. "It was definitely something I was considering very strongly. But then when this opportunity came, the weather is way better, so that helped me."

Perhaps Russell isn't a big fan of the snow.

While Minneapolis gets 45 inches of snow a year, San Francisco gets zero.

Russell then doubled down on his claim about the climate impacting his decision-making.

"I did my first winter in New York and that was tough," Russell said. "So to get the opportunity to go somewhere where it's warm again, I think that played a major part in my plan."

He won't be able to avoid the cold Friday night, however, as the Warriors visit the Timberwolves at Target Center.
