Dane Brugler’s final mock has the Vikings going wide receiver

During the first week of free agency, the Minnesota Vikings released veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen. Now the team is tasked with finding a replacement for him. Fortunately, the upcoming NFL Draft presents an excellent opportunity to do so.

On Thursday, Dane Brugler from the Athletic unveiled his final mock draft which had the Vikings plan addressing this need and selecting USC WR Jordan Addison.

In this scenario, the Vikings are wiped out at cornerback with five already off the board. But I’ll bet they’d love to see Addison available here. He would add another weapon for Kirk Cousins and the passing game.

Pairing Justin Jefferson with Addison would be an excellent move for the Vikings. Although Addison may not be a deep threat, he has remarkable suddenness in his route running, making him a lethal weapon underneath. His game has nuances that make him a genuine threat to opposing defenses and can also make plays after the catch.

As the Vikings embark on this new era of football, it would be a smart choice to pair Jefferson with a talented receiver like Addison, who has the potential to be a WR1.
