Dan Orlovsky argues Jalen Hurts is not nearly as good as Carson Wentz

Former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft after spending a season in Oklahoma. In his rookie year with the Philadelphia Eagles, he spent most of the time on the sidelines as QB2 under Carson Wentz.

When Eagles fans and front office turned on Wentz for inconsistent and poor play, Hurts was brought into the action and named the starter for the last few games in the season.

Now, Hurts is the presumed starter heading into the 2021 season, as Philadelphia traded Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts and even traded out of the top 10, which was more of a statement to the world that they did not plan on taking a quarterback to try and replace Hurts.

Today, ESPN’s NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky went on live television and said something that Eagles fans likely don’t want to hear.

“If the Eagles could go back right now and re-do that decision, I’m 100% convinced that they would not have taken Jalen Hurts,” said Orlovsky.

However, he didn’t stop there.

“If Jalen Hurts plays as well as he can, he can’t sniff as good as Carson Wentz is.”
