Damon Harrison inactive Sunday vs. Rams, reportedly requests to be released originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest

With Bryan Mone (ankle) back on the active roster, the Seahawks informed Damon Harrison that he would be one of the team's gameday inactives in Week 16 vs. the Rams.

That apparently didn't jive with Harrison, who reportedly asked to be released by Seattle, according to Tom Pelissero. Harrison followed up with a tweet saying that it's "all love and respect" for the Seahawks while indicating that his time with the team had run its course.

It's a hard decision to understand. Even though he dropped below Mone on the depth chart, Harrison is still just one injury away from having a significant role on a playoff team. You'd think that would be pretty exciting for a veteran who has played in just one playoff game in his entire career. Why put in all of the work to get in shape, not to mention to move your family to Seattle, just to jump ship with two weeks left in the regular season? It doesn't really add up.

Harrison turned down offers to join other clubs a few months back. The Packers, Buccaneers and Dolphins could all once again be potential landing spots if Harrison is hoping to play out the rest of the season with a contender.

There isn't much else Seattle can do but respect Harrison's wishes, even if they don't make much practical sense.

Here is the full list of Seahawks inactives on Sunday:

-- DL Damon Harrison

-- TE Colby Parkinson

-- G Mike Iupati

-- RB DeeJay Dallas

-- S Damarious Randall

Notes:

-- Jordan Simmons will start at left guard in place of Iupati.
