DAILY NEWS ALL-AREA BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Meet the first and second teams

Jan. 30—The Daily News Fall Series continues with boys cross country.

Meet the first and second teams below, in alphabetical order.

FIRST TEAM

Aidan Braunecker, sr., St. Anthony

Braunecker finished in the top 15 in four three-mile events for St. Anthony this season. He finished 11th at the Shelbyville Trail Invite, 14th at the Mattoon Broadway Bolt Invitational, second at the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet and ninth at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational. Braunecker set a personal best at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational with a time of 16 minutes and 51.2 seconds.

August Cosart, soph., Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City

Cosart finished in the top 10 in three three-mile events for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City this season. He finished seventh at the Shelbyville Trail Invite, first at the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet and sixth at the Fairfield Regional. Cosart set a personal best at the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartan Classic with a time of 16:25.9. He also competed in one 2.96-mile event. Cosart finished 11th at the Robinson Invitational with a personal-best time of 17:00.5.

Alex Gordon, soph., Effingham

Gordon finished in the top 10 in eight three-mile events for Effingham this season. He finished second at the Doc Acklin Memorial Invite, sixth at the Charleston Cross Country Invitational, fifth at the Mattoon Broadway Bolt Invitational, ninth at the Olney Cross Country Invitational, ninth at the Centralia Invitational, sixth at the Apollo Conference Meet, second at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational and eighth at the Olney (Richland County) Regional. Gordon set a personal best at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational with a time of 16:08.6. He also competed in one 2.9-mile event. Gordon finished 31st at the Jacksonville Sectional with a personal-best time of 15:12.8. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Cross-Country All-Area First Team after earning second-team honors as a freshman.

Julius Ramos, soph., St. Anthony

Ramos finished in the top 10 in six three-mile events for St. Anthony this season. He finished fourth at the Shelbyville Trail Invite, eighth at the Mattoon Broadway Bolt Invitational, seventh at the 46th Annual Tuscola Classic, seventh at the Cumberland County Invitational, third at the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet and fifth at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational. Ramos set a personal best at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational with a time of 16:22.6. He also competed in one 2.96-mile event. Ramos finished 19th at the Robinson Invitational with a personal-best time of 17:30.5. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Cross-Country All-Area First Team after earning second-team honors as a freshman.

Cameron Roedl, fr., Cumberland

Roedl is the Daily News Male Runner of the Year and was the only male runner to advance to the state meet this season. He finished in the top 10 in six three-mile events for Cumberland this season. Roedl finished third at the Doc Acklin Memorial Invite, second at the Shelbyville High School Trail Invite, fifth at the Lincoln Prairie Conference Meet, fifth at the Cumberland County Invitational, third at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational and third at the Fairfield Regional. He set a personal best at the Class 1A State Final Meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria with a time of 15:54.4.

Riley Morgan, jr., Cumberland

Morgan finished in the top 15 in five three-mile events for Cumberland this season. He finished 12th at the Doc Acklin Memorial Invite, 10th at the Shelbyville Trail Invite, seventh at the Lincoln Prairie Conference Meet, 11th at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational and ninth at the Fairfield Regional. Morgan set a personal best at the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartan Classic with a time of 16:46.3. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Cross-Country All-Area First Team after earning second-team honors as a freshman.

Luke Weber, sr., Newton

Weber finished in the top 10 in four three-mile events. He finished third at the Shelbyville Trail Invite, fourth at the Mattoon Broadway Bolt Invitational, seventh at the Olney Cross Country Invitational and seventh at the Fairfield Regional. Weber set a personal best at the Shelbyville Trail Invite with a time of 16:22.9. He also competed in one 2.96-mile event and one 5,000-meter event. Weber finished ninth at the 2.96-mile Robinson Invitational with a season-best time of 16:49.5 and finished second at the 5,000-meter Little Illini Conference Meet with a personal-best time of 16:55.9. He is making her second appearance on the Daily News Boys Cross Country All-Area First Team.

SECOND TEAM

Trevor Crutcher, soph., Dieterich

Crutcher finished in the top 15 in four three-mile events for Dieterich this season. He finished 15th at the Doc Acklin Memorial Invite, 13th at the Shelbyville Trail Invite, seventh at the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet and 14th at the Fairfield Regional. Crutcher set a personal best at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational with a time of 17:23.8. He also competed in one 2.96-mile event. Crutcher finished 23rd at the Robinson Invitational with a personal-best time of 17:35.6.

Adam Flack, jr., Effingham

Flack finished in the top 15 in two three-mile events for Effingham this season. He finished 14th at the Doc Acklin Memorial Invite and 15th at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational. Flack set a season-best at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational with a time of 17:15.7. He also competed in one 2.9-mile event and one 2.96-mile event. Flack finished 28th at the 2.96-mile Robinson Invitational with a personal-best time of 17:44.8 and finished 124th at the 2.9-mile Jacksonville Sectional with a personal-best time of 17:06.

Zane Groves, soph., North Clay

Groves finished in the top 15 in two three-mile events for North Clay this season. He finished 11th at the Mattoon Broadway Bolt Invitational and fourth at the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet. Groves set a personal best at the Mattoon Broadway Bolt Invitational with a time of 17:37.8. He also competed in one 2.96-mile event, one 3.1-mile event and two 5,000-meter events. Groves finished 17th at the 2.96-mile Robinson Invitational with a personal-best time of 17:23.4, seventh at the 3.1-mile Chuck Ingram Invitational with a personal-best time of 18:36.2, fourth at the 5,000-meter Tom Wickham Invitational with a time of 20:25 and 158th at the 5,000-meter Nike Cross Country Town Twilight, or USA Open No. 1, with a personal-best time of 18:41.8.

Brock Probst, sr., Newton

Probst finished in the top 15 in three three-mile events for Newton this season. He finished 14th at the Shelbyville Trail Invite, 10th at the Mattoon Broadway Bolt Invitational and 10th at the Fairfield Regional. Probst set a season-best at the Decatur (St. Teresa) Sectional with a time of 17:19.6. He also competed in one 2.96-mile event and one 5,000-meter event. Probst finished 15th at the 2.96-mile Robinson Invitational with a personal-best time of 17:19.9 and finished ninth at the 5,000-meter Little Illini Conference Meet with a personal-best time of 17:47.6. He is making her second appearance on the Daily News Boys Cross Country All-Area Second Team.

Daniel Ramos, fr., St. Anthony

Ramos finished in the top 15 in one three-mile event for St. Anthony this season. He finished 14th at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational. Ramos set a personal best time at the Bulldog Classic Cross Country Invitational with a time of 17:05.8. He also competed in one 2.96-mile event. Ramos finished 37th at the Robinson Invitational with a personal best time of 18:10.5.

Aiden Rosales, fr., Altamont

Rosales finished in the top 15 in one three-mile event for Altamont this season. He finished 15th at the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet. Rosales set a personal best at the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet with a time of 19:23. He also competed in one 2.96-mile event. Rosales finished 93rd at the Robinson Invitational with a personal-best time of 20:06.9.

Griffin Vaughn, fr., Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City

Vaughn finished in the top 15 in two three-mile events for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City this season. He finished fifth at the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet and 11th at the Fairfield Regional. Vaughn set a personal best at the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartan Classic with a time of 17:13.6. He also competed in one 2.96-mile event. Vaughn finished 18th at the Robinson Invitational with a personal-best time of 17:24.9.
