Rankings Analysis

Two teams entered the boys basketball rankings for the first time this season.

Calhoun City (15-8) checks in at No. 9, while East Webster (17-3) is the new No. 10. Dropping out of the rankings were New Albany (12-8) and Saltillo (14-9).

Calhoun City, which has played a tough schedule this season, is riding a six-game winning streak heading into Tuesday's game at Shannon. East Webster is also on a roll, having won six in a row entering Monday's game against Nettleton.

New Site (15-6) moved up one spot this week to No. 8.

There was slight movement in the girls rankings. Alcorn Central (17-5) moved up one spot to No. 9, swapping places with Calhoun City (18-1).

This is the final week of the regular season, and a lot of important region games are on tap. Perhaps the biggest one tips off Friday, when No. 2 Booneville visits No. 4 Belmont with first place in Region 1-3A on the line.
