Rankings Analysis

New Site made its season debut in the boys basketball rankings this week.

The Royals (13-5), winners of six in a row, check in at No. 9. The Class 2A program picked up wins last week against No. 10 Saltillo (6A), Mooreville (3A) and Amory (4A).

H.W. Byers (14-3) and Ingomar (16-6) each moved up a spot this week, to No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. West Union fell out of the rankings after a 69-64 overtime loss to unranked Lafayette on Friday.

New Site will try to keep its winning streak going this week when it plays in the Prentiss County Tournament. The Royals return to the court Friday to face the winner of Tuesday's Wheeler-Thrasher game.

The favorites in that tournament, however, will be the No. 1 Booneville boys (14-2) and No. 2 Booneville girls (12-1).

There were no changes to this week's girls rankings. Looking ahead, No. 10 Alcorn Central (16-3) has a pair of big Region 1-3A games: Tuesday at Booneville and Friday versus No. 4 Belmont (14-3).
