Warm it up, Kris: Bryant hits grand slam vs. Braves originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Monday's Cubs-Braves game didn't start well for the visitors.

Atlanta jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, scoring four times off Cubs starter Zach Davies in the first inning. With Braves top-of-the-rotation arm Charlie Morton pitching, the Cubs faced an uphill climb to come back.

Kris Bryant changed everything on one swing.

The Cubs third baseman drilled a third-inning grand slam off Morton to even the score at 4 in the third inning.

Bryant let out a smile as he approached third base coach Willie Harris, just hours after discussing how he shows emotion in his own way on the field.

“You see [Fernando] Tatís hitting homers and he's showing his excitement," Bryant said. "I hit a homer and, trust me, I might be happier than him running around the bases, but I don't show it.

"It's just different how you express it. I've never been the guy that really expressed how I felt inside because it’s just who I am, but there's no problem with people being happy for their successes on the field.”

That was Bryant's sixth grand slam of his career and his sixth home run of the young campaign. He's off to a strong start after a down 2020, hitting .297 after that swing with 16 RBIs.

Warm it up, Kris.
