Rizzo remains out of lineup with back tightness originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is out of the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale with the Pirates with low back tightness.

Kris Bryant is starting at first base in Rizzo's place for the second straight game.

Manager David Ross said Thursday Rizzo is "still pretty stiff." His back tightness originally creeped up May 18 vs. Washington, when Rizzo exited the game early and also missed the ensuing game before returning May 20.

Rizzo has had back issues in the past, so the Cubs are being cautious with him, especially with a quick turnaround Thursday following Wednesday night's win.

"It didn't make a whole lot of sense to put him in the lineup [Thursday]," Ross said.

The Cubs will return home following Thursday's matinee, opening a three-game series with the Reds Friday at 1:20.
