CU esports takes three Mid-South Player of the Week awards

Feb. 24—After just two weeks of conference play, Cumberland took its tally up to five total Mid-South Conference Player of the Week awards in esports play.

For the second time in a row Cumberland won the honor for Valorant and Rocket League, while claiming Overwatch this week as well.

In Valorant, Phoenix Zulueta led Cumberland to a 3-0 sweep of Pikeville, eliminating 36 opponents while just falling eight times himself. Zulueta also recorded 14 assists on his way to earning the first weekly honor of his career and the second of the season for CU.

Again winning the award for consecutive weeks, Cumberland was dominant in Rocket League. Kenyon Wagner recorded five goals on just nine shots, a shot percentage rivaled by few. Like Garrett Palmer last week though, he made three big saves and assisted three goals for eight total involvements.

Logan Wilson claimed the first Overwatch award this conference season as there was not one awarded last week. His performance against Pikeville was something of a spectacle, taking down 50 opponents and being eliminated himself just four times in total.

Wilson led his team in damage with 12.5k, while also dealing out 17k points of healing to his teammates.
