CHRISTOPHER CRAWFORD: There hasn't been a ton that had gone right for the Cubs in 2022, but one of the few bright spots has been the quality, and dare we say surprising, play of Christopher Morel. Since skipping Triple-A and being brought up straight from Double-A Tennessee, the 22-year-old has slashed .291, .380, .468, with a pair of homers and 6 stolen bases in 92 plate appearances. It's not only a surprise to see because of skipping a level, but Morel has not necessarily impressed statistically in his previous minor league campaigns.

Failing to post an OPS above .800, before his .945 mark in Tennessee that earned him a promotion. While he doesn't have enough playing time to qualify for most categories, Morel would rank well above average in several metrics with a solid 45% hard-hit rate and an approach that would be impressive for a player at any development time, much less a rookie. Don't expect a ton of power and there will be some regression at some point, but Morel looks like he's here to stay and he's absolutely worth a pickup if still available in your league.
