CPKC Stadium to host 2024, 2025 Big 12 soccer championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Big 12 announced Tuesday night that CPKC Stadium, home of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, has been selected as the host site for the Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship in a two-year agreement for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

Kansas City hosted the championship from 2013-2019, while overall the postseason event has been held in the state of Missouri eight times since the conference’s first soccer season in 1996.

All tournament matches will be played at the home of the Kansas City Current, a member of the National Women’s Soccer League, Oct. 30-Nov. 9, 2024 and Nov. 1-8, 2025.

Located in Berkley Riverfront Park , CPKC Stadium is the first stadium in the world purpose-built for a women’s professional sports team.

“This is just the beginning of our vision for CPKC Stadium and the possibilities for events we can host here in Kansas City,” KC Current President Raven Jemison said Tuesday. “It’s only fitting that one of the first major events outside of KC Current regular season matches at CPKC Stadium is the Big 12 women’s soccer championship.”

The Big 12 also announced Tuesday night that the men and women’s basketball championships will stay in Kansas City until at least 2031.

The 2024 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship will consist of 11 matches being contested between October 30, November 2, November 6 and November 9.
