Byron Leftwich won’t be the only person interviewing with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday as another young ascending offensive mind will be interviewing later that night. That coach’s name is Kellen Moore, who is currently the offensive coordinator for one of the hottest offenses in the league with the Dallas Cowboys.

Similar to Leftwich, Moore hasn’t been an NFL assistant as long as some other candidates (has four years of experience) but has made a lot of progress in a short amount of time with the Cowboys. His tenure started with the team as a quarterbacks coach in 2018 under Jason Garrett, then he was promoted to offensive coordinator the following year.

Even when Garrett was fired after the 2019 season, the team’s next head coach, Mike McCarthy, was fine with keeping Moore and he’s continued to be successful with notables in quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott, and receiver Amari Cooper leading the way. In fact, the team has secured an NFC East title and some of that is due to their offense, which is ranked second overall, fourth in passing, and tenth in rushing.

Additionally, Moore has taken part in the game as a player, too, through stints with both the Detroit Lions (2012-14) and Cowboys (2015-17), which also could help him with relating to quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Similar to Leftwich, that could put him years ahead of his coaching experience and could allow Moore to potentially knock his interview out of the park.
