Not a lot went right for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. They found themselves on the wrong side of the Los Angeles Rams’ scoreboard that read 20-17 and left SoFi Stadium worse for wear on the injury front, losing pieces that were expected to have significant contributions in 2020.

When tight end Blake Jarwin went down with a non-contact injury, there was concern that it would be long-lasting. Shortly after, it was reported that the team believed it to be an ACL tear that would require season ending surgery. Today, COO Stephen Jones confirmed as much on 105.3 the Fan.

The two remaining players on the active roster are Dalton Schultz and Blake Bell. UDFA Sean McKeon could be called up from the practice squad if need be and Stephen Jones didn’t rule out getting help from outside the organization.

Backup tackle Cam Erving was injured as well. Despite not getting the start, losing out to undrafted free agent Terence Steele in the effort to replace the unavailable La’el Collins in Week 1, Erving hurt his MCL on a field goal attempt, and may miss a few weeks of action.

All in all, it was an unpleasant evening that matched the unpleasant air in Los Angeles. But this is the reality of the NFL. It’s impossible to keep a roster in tact through the entirety of the season, the Cowboys just got an unfortunate head start on it.
