Country music star Carrie Underwood to return to Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center in 2023

After teasing fans Sunday night on “American Idol” about a new tour, country music star Carrie Underwood announced Monday morning that she’ll kick off a 43-city tour this fall — and she’s headed to Happy Valley early next year.

Underwood, an eight-time Grammy Award winner, will perform at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center on Feb. 10, 2023, as part of “The Denim & Rhinestones Tour.” Tickets for the general public will go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, discounted student tickets at 10 a.m. Thursday and presale tickets — such as fan club tickets and VIP packages — at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Ticket prices for the 7:30 p.m. performance will range from $39.50 to $125, plus taxes and fees.

The three-time Academy of Country Music entertainer of the year will be joined by special guest Jimmie Allen, who received a Grammy nomination for best new artist in 2022. Allen’s newest album, “Tulip Drive,” will be released June 24.

Not to be outdone, Underwood anticipates her next album, “Denim & Rhinestones,” will be released on June 10.

Underwood’s newest tour will kick off Oct. 15 in Greenville, South Carolina, and it will be her first arena tour since 2019. Besides State College, the star’s only other stops in Pennsylvania will be Philadelphia (Feb. 22) and Pittsburgh (Feb. 25), before the tour closes in Seattle on March 17, 2023.

“I’m excited to bring the new music of ‘Denim & Rhinestones’ to life on tour, as well as put new spins on familiar favorites,” Underwood said in a news release. “We’ve been working hard already preparing an amazing show, and I can’t wait to see everyone on the road.”

Underwood’s new 12-track album will feature the lead single “Ghost Story,” which has so far racked up more than 30 million streams. The album is her latest collaboration with David Garcia, who co-produced her 2018 album “Cry Pretty.”

Underwood, who’s finishing up a residency in Las Vegas, has sold 66 million records worldwide. She has recorded 28 No. 1 singles and boasts seven records certified platinum or better.

She last performed at Penn State’s sold-out BJC for her “Blown Away Tour” in November 2012.
