Corey Davis addressed the media for the first time as a New York Jet on Tuesday, and he explained why he chose them over other offers he may have had on the table.

But Davis also touched on the quarterback situation for Gang Green, and said he signed believing Sam Darnold would be quarterbacking the team

"Yeah, that's my understanding. Correct," Davis said via Zoom.

Davis added that he had just received Darnold's phone number and would be reaching out soon to talk to him.

The Jets still haven't publicly tipped their hand on their quarterback situation, as there's options to continue to sift through.

Retaining Darnold and building around him is one. The others are picking someone at No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft like BYU's Zach Wilson, or a potential trade for Russell Wilson or another star.

But one would think the Jets broke down their quarterback plan to their new top dog at receiver, right? It may not be worth looking in too deep at the comment, but Davis is preparing right now as if Darnold will be there come training camp.
