- After working through a rib cage injury in an off-field personal issue, Eduardo Rodriguez finally returned to the Tigers starting rotation on Sunday August 21st against Shohei Ohtani and the Angels. Making his first major league appearance since May 18th, Rodriguez struck out five batters over five scoreless innings, in what was eventually a 4-0 shutout win for Detroit. You could see this coming too after Rodriguez put up a 1.29 ERA and 22-3 strikeout to walk ratio in 14 minor league rehab innings between low-A Lakeland and triple-A Toledo.

There might be a hint of buyer's remorse on that five-year $77 million free agent contract that the tigers handed to Rodriguez over the winter, but we have since seen a regime change in the front office at Comerica Park. And maybe all parties involved can now wipe the slate clean. Erod's season ERA is down below four, and he should have another six or seven starts here in 2022 to put a good foot forward leading into 2023. There is definite fantasy streaming appeal.
